L’avventura della Famiglia RAFFO nel mondo del marmo comincia verso la fine del 1800 quando il navigatore GIO BATTA RAFFO, con il suo piccolo bastimento si fermò sulle coste della Versilia e cominciò a traghettare il marmo bianco di CARRARA da un porto all’altro dell’Italia.
Era l’anno 1875 e per quasi quaranta anni questa carretta solcò in lungo e in largo il mare NOSTRUM scaricando e trasportando le magnifiche opere degli scultori pietrasantini.
Quando decise di fermarsi e di mettere su famiglia insieme a sua moglie Teresa, nacque il loro unico figlio GIOVANNI BATTISTA che fu mandato a studiare l’arte di lavorare i marmi a Pietrasanta. Diventò con non poca fatica artista scultore e piano piano cominciò ad innamorarsi dell’arte di lavorare il marmo.
Passione che trasmise a suo figlio ANDREA il quale da bravo ragioniere che era, intravide subito nel marmo la possibilità di fare buoni affari.
E così il 1° Luglio del 1947 fondò la SICEA Marmi, laboratorio specializzato nella lavorazione dei marmi e delle pietre.
Dopo una ventina di anni lasciò il timone del comando al più grande dei suoi tre figli GIOVANNI BATTISTA, il quale dopo una lunga esperienza in giro per l’Europa a vendere i marmi, decise che era giunta l’ora di ingrandire ed allargare la lavorazione.
E così oltre al marmo alla SICEA si cominciò a lavorare anche il granito. Erano gli anni a cavallo tra il ’70 e l’80, e dall’America, per nostra fortuna, non passava mese che non giungesse una richiesta di costruire i famosi grattacieli con tutti i marmi e i graniti più belli.
Con il passare del tempo, si allargarono i mercati ma anche la concorrenza cosicché una volta terminati i loro studi anche i suoi tre figli raggiunsero il padre nella gestione dell’azienda. Prima ILARIA nell’87, poi ANDREA nell’89 ed infine FEDERICO nel 1993 non poterono non resistere all’attrazione che la storia della loro famiglia gli aveva molti anni prima preassegnato: la via del marmo.
Nacque così nel 1991 la RAFFO Marmi, piccola azienda del settore lapideo che doveva affiancare la mitica SICEA Marmi nella realizzazione dei suoi bellissimi lavori.
Fino all’anno 2005 il Presidente del Gruppo è stato GIOVANNI BATTISTA RAFFO, mentre i suoi tre figli lo coadiuvano occupandosi rispettivamente ILARIA dell’Amministrazione e Finanza, ANDREA del Commerciale e FEDERICO della Produzione. Una volta scomparso prematuramente, la presidenza del Gruppo è passata ad Andrea RAFFO.
Successivamente a seguito di una profonda ristrutturazione di tutte le compagini societarie, a partire dal Settembre 2014 l’attività viene svolta sotto il nome “storico” di SICEA s.r.l.
The RAFFO’s Family adventure in the stone world starts near the end of 19th century when the navigator GIO BATTA RAFFO with his tiny vessel stopped on the VERSILIA coasts and begun to transport the white CARRARA marble from one port to the other Italian port.
It was the year 1875 and for more than forty years this vessel delivering the magnificent sculptures of the PIETRASANTA artists.
When he decided to stop and growth a family together with his wife Teresa, burned their sole son GIOVANNI BATTISTA, who was sent to studying the marble manufacturing art in Pietrasanta. He became with a lot of pains an carver artist and step by step he started to fall in love of the marble manufacturing art.
Such a passion that transmitted to his son ANDREA, who, as a good economist he was, discovered immediately in the marble a good way to do business. And so consequently the 1° July of the 1947 he founded the SICEA Marmi S.r.l., a modern factory specialized in the marbles and stones manufacture.
After more than twenty years left the company guide to the mayor of his three sons GIOVANNI BATTISTA, who after a long experience a long the Europe selling marbles, decided that the time was right to expand and enlarge the production.
And so beside the marbles at the SICEA factory they started to process also the granites. They were years across the 70’s and the 80’s, and from America more or less every month used to came a inquiry for building the famous skyscrapers whit the most beautiful marbles and granites available.
As the years passed on, also the a new markets were fount together with a very strong competition, so that also his three sons reached their father in this family business. First ILARIA in the 1987, then ANDREA in the 1989 and at the end FEDERICO in the 1993 they could not resist to the fatal attraction that their family history many years before wanted to preserve: the marble route.
Shortly burned in the 1991 the RAFFO Marmi S.r.l., a small factory for the marbles manufactures who had to help the famous SICEA Marmi in the realisation of his beautiful jobs.
Till the year 2005 the President of the Group was GIOVANNI BATTISTA RAFFO, where his three sons helping him in managing the companies, respectively ILARIA in the Administration, ANDREA in the Sales and FEDERICO in the Production. Once suddenly He passed away Andrea RAFFO took the Chairman of the Board of Directors
Consequently further to a very important re organization, since September 2014, all the operations are made under the “historical” name of SICEA s.r.l.
